toilet in 16' casita

Is there a part missing? Looks like a large diaphram thing at the bottom of the bowl. when you step on the pedal it opens and I can see a tank below filled with water.

is that the holding tank?

after letting go of the foot pedal the diaphram closes, but water still runs around it. I guess to seal the gases out?

i'm hoping there is nothing missing there. i think marine toilets could be costly.

thx lee! so....when that tank fills up with waste it's like an outhouse where you can see what's in the tank every time you flush it? ;-)
