Tool of Choice

I have to remove the shower filter cap on my Scamp but I don't have very strong hands. What is the tool of choice for removing a stubborn cap? First time for removal, so it is a challenge.

Just wear a glove, maybe one with "traction" palms or fingers.
It really is pretty easy after the first removal.
You might put a little lube like vasoline on the threads.
Be careful to grip only the clear cap to avoid trying to turn the filter body.
Once the cap is removed then remove the screen to clean it.
To replace the screen it must seat in a groove in the filter body and another groove in the lid.
There is a gasket between the lid and the filter body so there is no need to over tighten it. Snug is good,

Another thought... Let someone else take it off, then you put it back to insure that it is not too tight for next time.

I bought a two to a package (two sizes) strap wrench set. It was about $20 at Ace hardware. I have used them several times to remove delicate but stubborn threaded or friction fit items. They work well and do no damage. I never had one before I was in my late 60s but use them now and think about all the stuff I’ve garfed up unnecessarily over the years.

UPDATE: I borrowed a strap wrench and had the shower filter cover off in seconds! It was totally clogged with soap and toothpaste residue. I cleaned and reinstalled it in minutes and the bathroom sink now drains beautifully!

Thank you to all who made suggestions. This group is awesome.

Tool of choice, shower filter cap

You will also probably need someone inside to hold/stabilize the drain or it will turn with the cap when trying to remove it. Main reason for gloves are - at least on our Scamp - sharp screws sticking through the flooring.
