trailer types comparison needed

Hi campers,
I have a Casita 17 ft. Liberty Deluxe. Have had back surgery and looking for slightly bigger trailer with more storage, etc. that accomodates two beds for two adults. Don't want a 3600 pound one though as want ease of pulling too. Wish Casita would make a 20-22 ft. size. Love the light weight. Is there anyone who has done or knows if a comparison of travel trailers companies and models has been done? I saw a Big Foot layout for the 21 ft. model but it weighs 3650 lbs. dry weight. Any fiberglass models about that size but lighter out there? Thanks for all the advise I can get.

Charleen and Doody, welcome to FiberglassRV..we're glad you found us!

We've tried to do a comparitive chart in the past, but the problem is..where do we stop...only feature new trailers? If you look at the listing on the home page, you'll see dozens of molded lightweight fiberglass RV's that have been made over the years. And the Pros-Cons portion is so subjective. What is a Pro to one person is a Con to another.

Fortunately, or unfortunately there are only 6-7 trailer manufacturers in business...not too many to make a personal contact for information. From the Helpful-Links page, see all these current molded lightweight fiberglass trailer manufacturers: All Current Trailer Brands.

Isn't it the Liberty Deluxe that converts to twin beds? Or is that the Spirit...gosh I can't keep them straight 'cause I own a Scamp

If the 21 foot Bigfoot is too heavy (as it is for me), and a 17' Casita or Escape 17 is too small, the only remaining moulded fiberglass options which I can think of are the Scamp 19' and Escape 5.0, both of which hitch in the truck bed - and thus require a pickup truck - rather than being conventional trailers.

Unfortunately, length+options=weight. No way to get around it. If you don't want to modify your Casita as Mike has done (which is really probably the easiest and best way for you to go) you might consider the Bigfoot 17 or 17.5' center bath floorplan with a front dinette and rear couch that both make into beds. The dry weight on a well-equipped one is about 2800 lbs with a GVWR of 3500 (on the 15B17CB model). The 17.5 model is about 600 lbs heavier. All of the 21' Bigfoot trailers I've seen have a single full bed, not twins, and I don't think a twin floorplan is an option.

I have a PERFECT floor plan for a 19-23' fiberglass trailer... if only someone would build it...

So how about posting it, if you have a drawing or even a rough sketch. Maybe someone will build one as a custom (perhaps a cargo trailer conversion), or reconfigure an existing trailer with the ideas, and even if not it would be interesting to see.

Thanks for the great ideas. I would like to check out an Escape 17 because I've never heard of it. Do you know the site info or who makes it? Has anyone had a Casita and a Big Foot or Escape 17 and can you give us some insight on comparing the two types? Thanks again.

Brian, it sounds like Bigfoot has pretty much come up with it in the new 25 front queen model, except that I'd put in two reclining/swivel captain's chairs and a pull-up table/cabinet across from the couch rather than a dinette.
