Several months ago I purchased a
Love bug that had good bones but some issues. For 50 years old the plywood floor was in excelent condition with no rot or decay. I refinished the cabinet doors, repainted inside and out and rewired the entire camper. I put in an additional 15 am circuit, additional outlets, 120 lot LED interiior
lights, and rewired the 12 volt interior
lights, stop tail turn
lights all to the inside of the camper rather than under the floor.
For anyone want to repaint the
fiberglass I used Total Boat topside single stage urethane
paint and got excelent results. The
paint is made for
fiberglass and does not have thevery toxic fumes of two part urethane paints. You still need a respirator. The
paint cures with a very hard finish and high gloss. I mixed white and their sand beige to get a color close to original.
I also replace the rubber moulding around the front and rear window. I got the two piece moulding from Amazon but be sure to purchase the plastic installtion sticks and the moulding lock strip insert tool. The process is still difficult and time cousuming. It really takes two people to install the plexiglass after the moulding is installed inside the opening.
