Trillium Belly band
Hi all
Spent all morning scrubbing the trill. The belly band had layer over layer of disgusting black and greening silicone. Removed it, now I find that the belly band was held on by the silicone on one side. Rivits are toast. So how do I get the rubber out and back in so I can re-Rivet it. Also what do I re seal the band with?
Curtis
Ps my marine hull cleaner made the trailer clean enough to eat off of.

The rubber insert is really easy to remove. You simply pull it out. When you want to put it back, you just squeeze it between your finger and insert it. I hope you can understand my French explanations loll

In my OPINION, the belly band is the major design flaw of the trillium. It should be removed, then cut, or grind out the metal plates that hold it on. Then fibreglass, and bondo over it. Some then add a self adhesive belly band back on, but I prefer the look with no belly band.
Just search "belly band" and you will find several links on how to do this. I like this one:

I'm gonna follow suit. All the steel where the rivets are supposed to go is crumbling and bulging. But to get me through the weekend I've bought a tube of marine Goop, it's stuck on and hopefully I don't lose it in new York, new Hampshire or Vermont! Will caulk around the top just as a temporary measure.

I am working on removing the belly band from my first 4500 now. I plan to remove it on all four of my Trilliums.

1980. I'm waxing right now with 3M marine restorer and wax. Coming along nicely. 4 trilliums! You should consider separating them while in storage or looking at spaying or neutering !

That is an awesome deal, (steal?). You even have the kitchen window. 1980 was near the end of the production.

Um... maybe a stupid question here: can you just climb on top of that roof and crawl around, scrubbing and spraying it? I mean, it'll hold your weight and everything? The roof doesn't give? Because, if you can just climb up there and work on the roof, I'll be doing that to my Trillium, too!

I use a 15 year old teen age daughter for anything that requires getting on the roof. Gotta love the family bonding time.
