I wouldn't if I didn't have to. If there's no other way, I'd brace from inside. 2x4's with plywood top and bottom to spread the load works. Sit or lie to spread your weight while up there.

I employed the services of my daughter for that. She was a small teen aged girl at the time. The roof still flexed more then I was comfortable with.
Braces are a good idea. Maybe use some plywood sheets to spread out the load as well.

I agree with David T re the Trillium roof. When I need to do things on my Trillium roof, I use a ladder and then reach.

On my Boler 17, because it is 8 feet wide, I can't reach the roof vents so I actually climb on the roof, but before I do this, I brace the roof with 2x2's wedged between pieces of plywood on the floor and ceiling.

I bought a set of portable scaffolding, cost $100 at Lowes. Best tool I have ever bought. Makes working on top of the trailer a snap, also great for painting inside the house, or whatever. Wish I had bought a set 40 years ago.....

Is your scaffolding able to span the top of your Trillium, Bill? I'd be interested in a link to the set you bought. Sounds like a great thing to have.

No, it just allows me to reach from one side or the other. Its what I used to scrub and polish the trailer.

I see its now even cheaper at $86. If you do any inside painting at your home, this is a must. Keeps you from going up and down a ladder continuously. Saves your ankles and feet.
