tripod for Scamp 5th wheel

Has anyone purchased a stabilizing tripod for a Scamp 5th wheel?

The goose neck on the Scamp requires a 2 inch ball.

tripod for Scamp 5th wheel

Thanks Donna,
The manufacture number 19-950400 is the Ulta-Fab part. I called Ultra-Fab and asked about a 2" ball. Because the top part is a single piece with ball and threads is aluminum, they did not think it was a good idea to weld a steel 2" ball onto this assembly. The issue is welding aluminum to steel, not strength. I have seen posts were people have do this though.
I have bought a BAL tripod with the gooseneck adapter. The adapter did not fit, so i drilled a 3/4" hole in it and mounted a 2" ball. We have not been out overnight with this yet, but it does stabilize the Scamp, and sets up like it should. A disadvantage is the unit is steel and heavier than the Ultra-Fab aluminum.

My 2004 5er has the 3" lift. I use 2x12 pads and 6X6 blocks under the stablizers and landing gear and that really helps by not extending everything to the max.

I agree with Eddie. We put a single large block of wood (about 15" tall and 15 inches wide and 7" deep) - scraps from a construction beam - under each landing gear foot so they don't have to extend very much. We have the telescoping BAL stabilizers welded unde the frame in the back. The Scamp stays real steady. But before we used the large blocks under the front landing gear it did get wiggly if the landing gear were significantly extended. We looked at the tripod but this solution was easier and cheaper. And the blocks aren't nearly as heavy as the cinder blocks we used to use!

Roseanne, go to a main forum where you want to post: Problem Solving -- Owners Helping Owners - Fiberglass RV

Look for the "New Thread" button, I'm in default and it's up near the top of the listings.
