For our micro camper, we bought a micro TV - a 7" LCD Haier TV.

I'd like to use a camera mount to mount it on the kitchen upright rails - and have it extend over the dinette seats.

Has anyone tested or used the Sunpak Clamppod Pro camera mount?

I'm wondering how much weight it will hold, and whether this small TV would be too heavy for it. According to my stamps scale, the TV weighs just over 1 lb.

Ideally, I'd like to find some sort of straight mount that could clamp on to the rails, extend over the dinette, yet let the TV tilt down for watching while laying in bed.

Any suggestions?

Went to the link on for the Amazon site and read the specs for the mount you looked at & according to that it will support up to 2 pounds. Hope this helps, K

I like this one better than the clip on. It seems like it would be stronger. It may not extend as much as you want but I have used tripod extenders in the past. Does the TV have the camera mount hole?

The TV does have the mount hole, dead center under the screen. I have installed it on a small table top tripod, which works ok, but wouldn't serve much purpose in our camper. it would be just one more think sitting on the counter top.

Ideally I'd like to find (or make) a mount that clamps on one end, and extends about 8" out.

So if I need more extension on the one you recommend, how does a tripod extender work? Screw into the mount screw and go out?

The one I had was a simple steel bar that allowed me to attach multiple camera accessories to it, like a separate flash or light meter. This dates me as being older than the digital age.

I cannot find mine although I suspect it may be around here somewhere. I did find one that would do the job although it is a bit pricey - $65.

I found several "camera tripod extenders" that cost half as much but I could not determine if they could actually be attached to a tripod. They were more like arm extenders for self portraits.

I did find one site where they had made their own with a treaded nut on the tripod end and a bolt with the right tread on the camera/TV end.

Have fun.
