We tow our EggCamper with a 2007 Honda Odyssey, which just went in for warranty service of the transmission and brakes. It seems Honda has several Technical Service Bulletins regarding Odysseys - but don't bother letting the customers know. I thought that I should post this note for two reasons: 1) to make you folks aware of the TSBs for your protection and 2) attempt to get membership feedback regarding your 2007+ Odyssey mechanical performance.

I realize this forum is not focused on auto mechanics, but each of us understand that we must be 'in tune' with our TV or it could mean trouble on the road. I was concerned to find that Odyssey is once again having trouble with their torque converter (TSB #09-053 dated 7/14/09). Another recent problem of concern to individuals towing an egg is TSB #07-045 dated 3/5/09 - 'low/soft brake pedal' - sometimes loss of brakes.

Since we have plans to travel in the mountains with our EggCamper this spring both of these items could become major safety issues if not properly addressed by Honda. If any of you have knowledge of these, or other, serious difficulties with a 2007 Ody or newer please post a message explaining. If you have questions regarding the two TSBs referred to in this post you may contact me via PM or email. We appreciate hearing both the 'good and the bad' you have to share.

Just trying to keep all of us safe on the roads!

Honda Ody 2007 EXL with 29,200 mi - problems with shifting, brakes and spark knock sensor.

Bill;
There is a Honda Odyssey forum at <http://www.odyclub.com> that you should join that has a LOT of good info on our Oddy's.
I have installed a talking Poron Backup Alarm that tells me how far things are behind me when parking, AirLift 1000s, and had many other good ideas from that Forum. I've got over 160K km (100K miles) with no problems and just did the recommended Timing Belt, waterpump, belts change.
I have pulled, in the normal drive gear (except when lugging) my 3500 lb Bigfoot probably about 16K km (10k miles) without a hitch (other than the one connecting the trailer!).
Check it out!
Good luck.
Mike
