Take the white adapter out and then you can put the male end of the hose in.
The adapter that is there is used to blow the water out of your water line's when winterizing with compressed air.

My camping buddy also advised me to use a water pressure regulator between the hose and trailer to protect the trailer water system from sudden spikes in water pressure (which could blow fittings and cause leaks). They're not expensive (under 10$) so I use one just to be safe. You can get them at hardwares and camping stores.
I did not know what that white fitting was either
