Hey all.. wondering if anyone is as bothered by the one handed upper cabinet door maneuver and if anyone has any clever, inexpensive or otherwise groovy ideas to keep the doors that swing up (to the ceiling) in the up position while you look for the bits you need.
Eventually I think we're going to rebuild them, just to ensure we maximize space.. but for now I'm looking for a way to hold them up until I'm ready to shut them again.

One guy, I think it was here, had a clever idea; he took a long coil spring, maybe six inches long and half an inch in diameter, and screwed one end to the door and one end to a block inside the door opening, so that the spring propped the door open. To close the door, he just tapped the spring in the middle, buckling it, and closed the door; the spring bent as the door closed.

Use magnets to keep them closed and magnets to keep them open!

Magnets, springs, forks, hooks, dowels... there's been lots of ideas and solutions and all work. I captured these pictures of a small block of scrape wood... KISS

At the 2010 GOG (Great Oregon Gathering), just completed, we had little to show in the way of mods to our trailer, but we got many AH-HA!'s for our spring strut for our over-the-microwave cabinet door. We cannot take credit for it, as I read about it on one of the trailer boards. Ours was not a "Home grown" variety. I bought mine from West Marine supply as a "hatch" strut, complete with appropriate brackets alaready attached. As I recall, it cost about $10, seemingly expensive for so little material. However, everything for boats costs lots ;-(
A few said that that single solution was worth the trip to Bandon!
