I am in the process of making a decision on a used trailer. Unfortunately it is far away (and I only have limited knowledge of what to look for). Does anyone know if there is anyone or group/business that offers services as an independent party/inspector that would look at a potential buy and report back their findings? Of course no guarantees expected, just an honest appraisal of the condition

I am not aware of any "For Hire" type service that operates remotely like that. Most RV service outlets will do that if you bring the vehicle in to them. The trick might be to get someone to take the unit to a place where it is and send you the inspection bill.
Some members on this site have been known to make an inspection for others on a voluntary basis. If "far away" for you is near San Diego, I might be able to help...

Just let us know what city it's in or close to... undoubtedly some one will chime in for you. It's customary to pay at least expenses to the person who's willing to do the checkout for you though.
