Wagon Master heater temp control doesn't shut off burner.

My furnace burner wont shut down when the ambient temperature gets up to the selected number on the dial. I heated the copper tube (below the heater) that is the temperature sensor to 90 degrees fahrenheit and the burner still did not shut down. What would cause this to happen and how do I fix it.

I did clean and inspect the heater for rust out and cracks by removing it from the trailer and dismantling it. The burner would not light to begin with as the orifice was plugged. Burner lights fine and flame is good. The pilot has always worked fine.

There is no direct corelation between the number and temperature. We find on our wagonmaster that it cycles at a comfortable range up to about 2 1/2 after that it pretty much stays on all the time.

Does yours cycle at the lower numbers on the dial?

It will not cycle at any setting.
I think the temp sensor is supposed to be up beside the flame box as in a partial photo that I saw showed the temp sensor wire or tube heading toward the top not through a hole and mounted below the heater where it will only get cold air. Temp sensor in the picture was clearly not below the unit. Moving the temp sensor up higher gives me something to try on the bench in the garage.

Boler furnace temp control

Any update on this? I've been having the same issue, and my furnace also has the small tubing sitting outside of the metal box of the furnace.
