Water in regulator again???

Good morning

I recently replace the propane regulator on my boler. I had purchased a new pigtail as well but found it a little short so I ordered a new one and replaced it a couple weeks later. I found water at the top of the regulator when I removed the pigtail. There is no way it leaked in there from rain. I don't leave a tank attached because its parked close to the road and I expect it would go missing. The pigtail is always facing straight down so open to the air but not rain. The only thing I can think is that its condensation.

Everything still works okay but I'm thinking its on borrowed time with the water in there. Does everyone leave their tanks attached to stop this from happening?
I looked around online for a cap I could screw on but didn't find anything purpose built. I could rig something up.

Any ideas?

I’m a firm believer of, “If it’s not broke, don’t fix it!”

In well over 50 years of LP use, the only problems I’ve had are incorrectly sealed fittings, cracked/leaky lines, and cheap regulators. Back in the days I used the smell test and soapy water, but now my smell isn’t the greatest, and some lines are not in a place for soapy water, so after the stove exploded in my face on my Escape 5.0 I have a battery operated sniffer.

Kip, I generally have several 20# tanks about & worry about stuff getting into them & any open regulators. Ended up 3d printing caps for both. D.
