Water Pump will not turn off

Hello - I am camping in the Keys. I have not used my 2019 Casita Independence for a couple of months. It is hooked up to water and electric at a state park. I flushed the toilet, and the water pump started making a loud vibrating noise. I filled the tank with more water, and tried running water from the sink and toilet to try to get air out. I turned the power to the trailer off and on. It is still on, still noisy and almost midnight. I am not sure how to fix it. I hope I don’t burn out the pump. Any advice? Thank you - Amy

Assuming you can get online: YouTube: Adjust RV 12 volt water pump.
If you don’t have a leak, it should be a simple pressure shut off adjustment of a single screw. I would hope you have shut the pump off for now, a will only turn it on when you are ready to make the adjustment. On the other hand, it could be that the pump is not pulling water from the fresh water tank. That could be due to a clogged filter bowl on the tank side of the pump or an air leak. Also try YouTube for priming an RV 12 volt water pump.

If you are connected to a water faucet (city water) you should have the pump switch in the off position.

If it's in the off position and still running you can either pull one wire off the back of the switch or pull the fuse out in the converter panel, you may have to pull a few to figure out which one it is.

Smile Thank you Water Pump help

Hi - thank you for the responses. I went to sleep about 3:30 and it was off at 7. I ran water this morning and it is ok. I will look at the YouTube video as suggested and try to figure out where it is. It is not the switch inside to turn on, as that is for battery use. I am not mechanically savvy, but will try to look at it today - with power off.

Camping at Bahia Honda State Park. Very thankful the AC is working!

Shut off the city water supply, open the faucet and see if water flows from the faucet with your pump running, or not. You may have just gotten some air in the pump and the city water prevented it from pumping. While using the city water, always shut the pump off.

Hi - I am hooked up at the campground, and do not have the switch on for the pump. It shut off after about 5 hours. I will make sure to disconnect hose and try this if I have an issue going forward. Thank you!

The pump is usually a on demand style pump. May sound stupid but locate the pump have someone turn off the the power at the fuse panel. Pump should be off. Use a screwdriver to tap the top of the switch’s a few times. Sometimes trash can get caught somewhere in the switch system and the tapping will loosen it up. Could just be a bad pump ( I worked in marine industry) we replaced a lot under warranty. If you are hooked up the city water outlet no need for pump.flip breaker/switch off. If that doesn't turn it off, cut the red wire on pump where you can re-connect when replaced.

People think OH it’s only 12 volts, it’s not the voltage that hurts you it is the fire it causes.

Pump is ok now

After the pump ran for a few hours, it shut off. I camped seven nights and it was fine. Everyone is so knowledgeable. I need to work on my maintenance skills. Thanks again - Amy

The water pump switch is a small nondescript unlabeled black rocker switch usually located at/near the kitchen sink in your Casita.

Note that the water pump is a 12v appliance so it is not related to the 120v shore power wiring but it will be on one of the small fuses located inside your power panel (converter box).

When connected to "city water" the pump acts as a backflow device to keep water from flowing into your fresh water tank. In this situation the "city water" connection provides the water pressure for the sinks, outside shower and the toilet. When not connected to "city water" you turn the pump on to deliver water from your fresh water tank to the sinks, outside shower and toilet.
