I need to order an awning for my Scamp 16. Should it be a 9 foot or a 10 foot? Looks like the 10 foot might be slightly long....

Bag awning, btw, so needs to hang straight off an awning rail..

Hi Jake, My 16' Scamp has a 10' awning, fits great.
Mine isn't a bag awning...don't know if that makes a difference.

It will make a difference. The brackets for an A&E or Dometic crank awning can be pulled in from the ends of the trailer. A bag awning rail needs to fit on the flat area against the trailer. If you don't get an answer you're comfortable with. Hold a straight edge against the trailer... even a tape measure that's rigid would work, when the trailer starts to curve... you've got your measurement. I'm betting it's the 9 footer since a 13 foot trailer only has a 10 foot body and there's that curve to deal with.

Let us know what you find out, inquiring minds want to know

Hi: Jake... The easiest might be to call Scamp and ask what length of awning rail they'd use on their 16'ers. Also Vintage trailer supply has some great looking Rope and Pole awnings...but they don't ride on the trailer...but rather in the trailer in the bag!!! Whatever you choose you will enjoy your time sitting under it !!!

My Frugal approach is very similar to the Pole and Bag Awning except for the price tag -- I take a tarp, lash a piece of PVC pipe to one edge, tie some ropes to the pipe, toss the ropes over my Egg and pull the pipe up and against the roof vents, bungeeing the ropes to wheel on opposite side -- I then use stakes, lines and corner poles to hold the other edge up.

Costs closer to $9 than $359 -- No holes in Egg, nothing permanently fastened -- I can change the color with a new tarp (I like brown or green or white; blue is getting tacky) -- If the wind takes it away, it won't damage my Egg on its way out and I can replace it quite inexpensively.

Sorry, I haven't taken a photo.

Thanks everyone for the replies. Scamp uses a 10' awning, but I believe the factory one uses brackets, not a rail.

I already ordered a 10' awning last week after measuring. Looks like it should just fit - I'll update when I have it installed.
