Started on the belly band. Thanks to advice from Jay H. Of this community, I am making some headway.
Spent a day's+ time bending aluminum C Chanel and soon will be attaching it to the belly band. Click image for larger version

Hey Mark, can you explain or describe the piece that you put over the joint in your belly band? It looks like a slightly larger piece of c-channel, is that the case?
I really like how clean that looks and I would like to do the same on mine!
