5th wheel to bumper hitch

Anyone out there ever done a modification from a the wheel to a bumper hitch?

I have a friend that used to tow a small junky 5th wheel of the bumper of his F-450. It looked sketchy but it worked, I'll see if he has any pics

Tow dollies like Kevin has posted are not legal in a number of states. Only commercial trucks can use tow dollies for 5th wheels. If you plan on using one, make certain you'll be able to use it in the states you want to camp.

Here's a pic of my friend's old set up, he now has a new 36' bumper pull. This always looked crazy with a $60k truck pulling a $1k trailer with such a set up. He told everyone he had spent all his money on the truck and had to save up for a trailer

I believe the hitch weight of a Scamp is around 600 lbs. Weigh it to be certain, but Frederick has found it's much higher than the posted weight on Scamp's website. There's a reason that much weight is over the axle of the tug. Few, very few tugs could handle that amount of weight off the back end.

I think my friend was told by the hitch shop that the tongue weight doubled for every foot out he went off the bumper, that wasn't a concern with the F-450 but would add up quick on a smaller truck
