83 Scamp-16 (update)

After spending some time in the scamp this past summer (2-week road trip to the NW WA/OR ~3,000-miles) we discussed what's next. Flooring was a huge ...improvement over the 30yr old carpet no doubt! Next up was kitchen area!

Added a cutting board over fridge (from Depot) ...then next is a wire grid system from (Container Store) to hang 'most used' items from. Realizing of course when in motion these items will shake loose and wind up on the floor. But when we're staying some place for several days it's nice to have within arm's reach and not have to hunt for them.

Also had an old broken tripod that I salvaged the legs from to use as a supports for the front window cover ...which now is a window shade when we're parked. So continuing to add more little upgrades as time permits.

Changed my mind on the wire grid for the wall! The galley tends to get cluttered way too fast. This retro looking faux metal (it's not tin but plastic and easy to cut and glue) will look cleaner and is my favored choice! (source - HomeDepot)

I'm glad you decided against the grid; it seemed too big for that area. The metallic looking stuff looks great!

HomeDepot in their Kitchen-Flooring area ...a rack of different metallic styles $20/sheet ...had to use spray adhesive to get it to stick to the elephant hide! The double stick tape the MFGer sells for it was useless!(wasted $11)!

Continuing to paint and with Home Depot's Behr interior paint matched from a sample of the elephant skin. I noticed that it's so thick that it kind of fills in the skin's wrinkles a bit and smoothes out the surface visually.

I didn't plan to paint the whole interior and first attempted to clean the surface with a degreaser solution but there was still some areas that remained stained. So this paint job when done will be a major improvement IMHO.

I'm thinking of making a small shelf/table that'll hang off the wall to set a cup, book or iDevice on when we just want to sit in the dinette area without the big table in our way. I might use the table outside to support a folding solar panel. [Note: you can see where I stopped painting ...the right third is unpainted.]

Looks great Steve! The little table for electronics will be a great addition. Since I often sleep on the bunk end when family is with me, I cut a piece of cedar ply I had left over from closet shelving to fit just inside my pulled out silverware drawer. Screwed in little rubber bumpers to keep it snug just inside the drawer runners. I keep my phone and coffee mug there in the morn. 😊
