I'm primarily a painter. I've painted almost anything you can name . From helicopters to houses, from rocking chairs to Rolls Royces (ha! I haven't said that in a long time!)
So, having run out of money, but having paint, I painted yesterday!
I just had time to do a out 1/2 of the frame, one wheel and the tongue. Not sure I like the wheel that color , but I do like the frame.

I like the gunmetal match on the frame and wheel. With the chrome insert to set it off, looks sharp.

I got things done over the Independence Day time off!
First up is the taillight adapters. The were meant to just screw on but I thought molding them into the body would look better. I was right.

Next up was fixing the on board fresh water. I put a deck plate on the tank for easy cleaning. New pump, accumulator tank , faucet, on/off switch and hoses.
It works!
Still have to hook city water inline with the 12v. I'm using two one-way valves for that.
That first pic just shows the PO wiring that was in the way.

Nice build Itlives. Share some knowledge?

What is a deck plate on the tank for easy cleaning?

What is an accumulator tank?

The Shurflo pump I have to put it in mine has a check valve built into it. Are the one-way valves that you installed intended to do that?. In the Long Long Trailer I used to have, the check valve on the pump served to let it cooperate with the city water in the same lines with no other valves. How are you using those one-way valves?

Dig the tail light mods by the way

https://www.amazon.com/SHURflo-182-2...cumulator+tank

I put a check valve in both city water and on board water lines so no matter which one I use, water won't go to the other side. I could have put a cap on the city water inlet but "I did it myyyyyy wayyy"!

The pic....bottom goes to on board tank (6o'clock)....12 o'clock goes to sink....3 o'clock goes to city water. A FaceBook member has suggested I put an adjustable water Guage at the city water spigot to keep from possibly blowing out my small hoses (3/8"). I think that's a good idea.
My SHURflo probably is the same as yours and that makes senseverything. But, I didn't know about it. Thanks!

This is one bumper bracket and what you would need to make it (or any similarly rusty part) ready for paint.
1- wire brush
2- putty knife
3- 150 grit sand paper
4- lacquer thinner and rag
5- ospho is a phosphoric acid with "wetters" and throw away brush
6- primer
Using all tools available, clean it up, then wipe down once with lacquer thinner.
Then prime. I like this primer because it also sticks to aluminum which is what our bumpers are.

Instead of buying new nuts and bolts, I soaked the old ones in the Ospho for about 24 hours. I just cut the bottom out of a coke bottle and covered the rusty parts with the acid. I also cut slots in the top part of the bottle so I can fit it back onto the bottle bottom and cover the acid.
After you get the bolts out you let the dry for and hour or so then lightly wire brush them and prime.
They are good as new!
(I have the bumper bolts in the acid right now)
The phosphoric acid was about $14 at my local paint Store. Well worth the money!

I'm a painter ....so I paint. I had looked at the primer one day to many. I just painted the top and front. I have to paint a little at a time because I'm doing it outside.
Also finIshed the frame.
I like shiny things...

Mike,
That's looking real nice!
Can I ask what kind of paint are you using? [single-stage?... acrylic enamel?... etc]
And what color code or name? 'Cause it looks like you've got a nice match to the factory-type color.
Gary

Thanks Gary! It is Omni Acrylic Enamel with a hardner. The hardner always gives a bit more shine and hardness (duh) and helps it set up faster. Setting up fast is good when painting outside!
The color is a Kia off white. Your color for your adapters is a lot closer than the Kia. I like the warmth of the Kia color . It's a bit darker than original Uhaul.

Finally got the whole thing painted! It was tough in the Louisiana heat and humidity. I did 1/2 and two days later did the other side. Painted it outside. I've done much better paint jobs but I can live with it. Now comes the fun part...putting it back together. Still need an AC or cool weather.
Decided to leave the bumper bare aluminum . Kinda like the look.

Painters are always perfectionists AND their own worst critic. That egg looks fantastic. Bet it's a 3 foot paint job in person, or less, even having done it outside.

Thank you for the info on the accumulater, I didn't know those existed. I picked one up for my build and now I won't wake my sweetie when I fill the coffee pot in the morning.

Bungee, I would still fill the coffee pot the night before. The reserve isn't that great.
Thanks for the kudos!

The Uhaul door window I have has so many layers sealer (it still leaked) that decided to just put a piece of plexiglass in the door. I used auto windshield sealer (I think it's urethane) . It sure is sticky! Here's the results-
