Adding an Exterior Access Hatch

I basically considered the under the bed storage to be inaccessible for the most part because I hated moving my bedding around. To remedy this problem I added an exterior access hatch.
For those interested in doing the same I have also made a video and uploaded it to youtube

Cool!
Do you think the fiberglass panel that you cut out of the boler could be used in the lid?

Fred

I think you could do that if you wanted to make your own frame (or modify the one you buy) but since I was painting anyways I figured I would just give it a coat of paint

Been looking for one of those access doors. Where did you get this one?

Thanks Funkgun, My problem is that I have an access door on one side (~11.5 x 19.5), as you can see on my avatar, and I'm trying to closely match the size/shape. I did find one on the site you recommended.
As to the texture, I've replaced the outside skin on the one I have. Not a difficult job.
Installing this new one will require that I reposition some of my water fittings. Shouldn't be too difficult.

If you can only see one at a time then no one will easily notice.
With short term memory loss if I walked around the camper with a different style door on each side I would never know!
When I put mine on the FrankenScamp I put the hinge of the marine style hatch on the bottom so that the door would hang open and I would not have to hold it up while I looked in or packed.
You might also think about putting some chains on each side so that the door makes a shelf to pull stuff out on while sorting through the mess. Of course that would only apply to the stuff I have in my storage locker, nit yours.
I think a mixture of storage for inside and outside stuff is necessary as I keep chocks, slinkies, jacks tools etc in there.

I wish I had thought of the opening down with chains idea, I think that would make it even more useful!

Fantastic work! Love the orange bottom. What paint brand and colour did you use? I'm getting my boler painted soon.

Thanks!
