Amerigo rock guard/window cover...

We are the proud new owners of a 73 FG16 that has been remodeled and updated. We are interested in finishing up where the previous owner left off. One of the things we are looking for is a front window cover/rock guard. It seems about half of the trailers we see have them and half dont. Any help in pointing us in the right direction would be appreciated. (I did attempt a search here and online looking for an original and/or a way to adapt a different model, but didnt turn up anything.)

I am looking at my copy of an original Amerigo FG16 sales brochure and I don't see any illustrations of a rock guard nor is it mentioned in the list of available options.

This sorta suggests that you will have to build or adapt one from something else. But, that front window looks so tall there's almost no doubt going to have to be something custom built.

Good Luck

Take a look at the rock guard on this Trillium that was just listed in the For Sale Forum.

With some nice padded material that should work for your Amerigo. Heres a link:

I have a 1970 Amerigo hard side hybrid. The front window has the frame for the rockguard but the rock guard itself is missing. i will be finding a piece of ?fiberglass, and having a custom design to match the new exterior and interior decorating i am doing.

Lou, I haven't seen or even heard of that Amerigo design before. Can you post some pics, either here or where they can be linked to.

Thanks.

there are two clips on the rear exterior. they undo, the back folds up under a 6 inch overhang, the bottom of the bed (plexiglas or fiberglass?) folds down. the two sides fold out and there is a L shaped wood bracket to hold them in place.

i am currently planning the renovations. the paint job has to go, the interior needs new cushions, carpet, and curtains.

all systems need checked. so far part of the water pipe is missing, the gray water tank was damaged before i got it, electrical needs complete test and checked,

Thank you Bob, for checking. I may have the same brochure because I didn't see it either. However I am finding that it was available somewhere/somehow...after talking to a couple of Amerigo owners I have seen/stopped on the street, that have a window cover/rock guard WITH the "Amerigo" on the fiberglass. Both owners stated they purchased the trailer (used) with the cover. The mounting did not look "home made". I would suppose that even IF they were an option, there would not be any for sale in any place at this point. So, now I enter the world of designing one and see if I can make one from scratch.

Eda235,

Hit reply, click the 2nd icon from the left (looks like a picture of a mountain w/sun), that will take you to your pictures. Click what you want to upload. It will go to your reply with the word ATTACH #### ATTACH. You'll see the picture as the first icon to the left. If it's ok, hit reply and it will post.

I figured it out.... the icon asking for a URL was due to being on the regular site while Im on my Ipad...It appears that the 'app' will allow me to allow the app access to my ipad, and then I can post a pic. As a rule I try to limit the number apps downloaded, I rarely need them for every single thing i do online. And it adds up in the "gigs used" totals....and frankly I just dont like the way most apps are designed, they usually are no better/faster/easier than the regular site and I think it allows too much access to my info/machine. So I guess Im forced to use their app if I need to post pics....lets try it once and see what happens.

Thank you very much for the help and assistance, it did lead me to figuring out what was going on.
