Making the patterns.

Oh shoot. Should have posted these first. Here are a few photos of how we set the patterns up.

Here’s a couple straggler photos of adhering the headliner material over the insulation. For whatever reason they got left out and maybe there’s something here that will help someone out.

Time for another update! As I mentioned before, I had set Fall NOG as my soft deadline for completion, and while I didn’t quite make it we were able to get the trailer to a very usable spot and pull it down to South Beach State Park for the event. We had a blast! It was fun to meet many of you there and to check out a bunch of other folks’ setups. We got some good ideas and are looking forward to future events. Plus it was just great to be out in the world, to use our camper, and to meet new people. We’ve remained active the last 1.5 years, but Covid has really minimized interactions with people outside of our immediate friend group. I digress.

Before making the trip to the rally I was last-minute able to install the floors, get 3 coats of Poly on the dinette, and install the power converter and plugs. My partner in all this madness stayed up until after midnight the night before we left finishing up the curtains so we would have some guard against the early morning light. It was worth it. We attended without any cabinet doors, ceiling treatment, floor/cabinet trim, and some other odds and ends, but it was all good. We were able to enjoy our time, remained extremely cozy despite the cold nights (hooray for insulation!) and generally didn’t miss those things. It just gave us a more focused to-do list. Also, despite a very rainy first day there was little condensation and no moisture intrusion. I’ll take it.

For anyone interested, we used a waterproof click-install LVP flooring from Shaw, which wasn’t the cheapest option, but was our favorite. I also used a waterproof underlayment called EcoCork for some extra insulation and floor stability (https://www.ecfunderlayment.com) that I got at my big-box store. It makes for a pretty tall floor which reduces my head clearance, but I sized down on the plywood subfloor a bit so I think the net loss won’t obvious. Since I did size down the subfloor, I also wanted a bit rigidity that peel-and-stick doesn’t offer.

Since our return I’ve finished the floor trim and not much else. Enjoy the photos.
