Any Good Update Ideas for 93 13 Scamp?
We are headed to the Scamp factory in Backus Minnesota to have them repair the bottom base for the screen door so it stays in the hole & to adjust the door latch so it doesn't come open during transport.
We are also thinking of having them install a 12 V USB charger input. Where have you guys put yours?
Any other ideas we can have them do while we are there?
Thanks for all of your ideas.
We have the basic 1993 13 foot Scamp.. ice fridge... which is fine. LEDS in 2 places in & 1 out near door.

I would get a 12 VDC outlet (or two or three), and when you need USB use one of these.
Advantages:
1. Outlet can be used for other 12 VDC things also.
2. There is no slight but constant power drain when the adapter is not plugged it where there likely is with a built-in USB outlet (because it converting from 12 to 5 VDC).
3. If it fails, it is easy to replace.
4. If it causes radio or TV interference (actually quite common for any USB outlet), then just unplug it.
I installed a 12 VDC and a USB outlet, then replaced the USB with a second 12 VDC outlet for just those reasons.

You might want to have them check your converter. Newer ones have built in battery protection from what I understand. Worth it to ask.
Not sure if you need/want it, but an outdoor 110 outlet is nice to have should you be hooked up to shore power and want to plug in items outside your Scamp.

Maybe have them check axle and wheel bearings

If you do install an outside 120 vac outlet, it needs to be GFCI protected, because all exterior and wet location outlets require it in order to be safe and legal.

Interesting Scamp upgrade
We've owned our 1990 13' Scamp Delux over 20 years. It does not have a bathroom nor front bunks and we've never seen another like it inside. The most important improvement we've made is to add an "instant hot water" under-counter appliance to our "city water" line. We've don't boondock and I promised my wife I would only take her to safe RV parks with full hookups. The money we save by towing the light weight Scamp allows us to enjoy the best RV parks. The Instant Hot Water systems works great for doing dishes, quick wash up, or instant coffee &/or soup. Why doesn't Scamp offer this feature?

Very interesting FreddieP. Do you have a link to the product you're using? I don't have a water heater in my Casita and was reviewing options.
Thanks!

Interesting Scamp upgrade
I can't recall the name of our hot water system but you can go to doitbest.com and see one like it. Search for item #453536. Our Scamp is currently in storage due to all of the Oregon Parks being closed. I will post the brand name of our hot water system the next time we inspect our 13 foot Scamp Deluxe (1990).

I have a different trailer. But put 12 volt outlets on either side of the bed so both of us have access.
I use a CPAP machine, and bought a 12 volt adapter from the manufacturer. The outlet allows me to use the CPAP without an inverter.
In my BF 19, there was a small counter under the microwave, where the feed to the TV antenna cable was located. The manufacturer installed a 12 volt outlet which I used for both my portable inverter and as a charging station.
I also installed 12 volts outlets on either side of the dinette under the front window.
One of the best things you can do inside the cabin.

If I were driving to Bacchus, I would get them to install a new overhead storage like they’ve done in the newer models. I could order one for $150 but it would cost $150 to have it shipped.

Probably because this installation could be very dangerous. The Waste King and (similar) Insinkerator Hot Water Dispensers will dispense hot water at up to 190-degrees fahrenheit, which can cause 3rd-degree burns in less than a tenth of a second.
We just installed a similar unit in our kitchen, though ours is made by Insinkerator. These are hot water dispensers designed for making beverages such as hot tea or soup directly from the spigot. They have special faucets which incorporates venting lines connected to the hot water tank.
These units are very different from "point-of-use" hot water heaters which are designed for maximum temperatures of about 120 to 125 degrees fahrenheit. Point-of-use (POU) heaters are designed to be used with regular faucets which can dispense hot, cold, or blended (warm) water.
The Waste King and Insinkerator dispensers are not compatible with regular faucets. Due to their potential for scalding and the need to have a proprietary faucets, they are not an appropriate choice for general-purpose use.

I don’t have a scamp, I have. A Bigfoot. Here’s where we have put either 12vdc outlets or usb chargers.
Two on each side of the bed for charging devices.
We swapped out one of the shore power 120ac Duplex outlets for a combo AC duplex and a usb duplex, that’s in the dinette area. It can’t be used on battery power but it works great on shore power.
And one combo 12vdc plug and dual usb right inside the door.
That way we can do a charge when we are at the campsite by just opening the door and plugging in.
I would have the factory reseal the penetrations in the roof, and the windows.
Check and repack or replace axles if needed.
