Bath Door Frame

The paper covering the wood door frame is peeling.

I am thinking about replacing the all the fake wood frame but need some advice.
· First, has anyone replaced the frame and can you provide photos of the mod.
· Are the frame legs 2 pieces of wood screwed together?
· I plan on replacing with 1 x 2 stained oak. Are there any other suggestions?

Thanks for the help

The frame is solid spruce. Escape uses 1x3s and 1x2s for framing. What you are seeing peeling is just the Finish trim work. If you wish there is no problem replacing that with solid oak, and finishing it with the clear polyurethane. They also paint the wooden jambs of cupboard doors color that matches the faux wood.

It could be that I am misunderstanding you too, not an unheard of thing for me.

Bath Door Frame

Thanks for the input

Call Scamp and they said it is 2 pieces screwed together and suggested just replacing the bad section of the frame. at a cost of $$ plus freight.

I will make a final decision on lumber size once I have the frame apart.

I was thinking that maybe it was done the way Escape does it, but obviously not.

I plan to replace the bath door frame on my Scamp 19 with Sapele to match my cabinet doors. I am going to make a new shower door at the same time as mine looks trashed. I might use a cheaper wood on the inside to save money. I will probably cover the inside wood with polyester resin to water proof. I want to eliminate the need for a shower curtain.

If like my Escape shower there is a lip from the shower pan where it meets the bottom of the door. I forgot to close the shower curtain once and water ran down the door and outside the shower. A curtain covers overlaps where the door and pan meet, keeping water inside the shower.

Well mine "future shower" is only a closet with an air conditioner in it right now. The enclosure doesn't even go the floor. I have to make everything from scratch so I am hoping to design it to not require a curtain. If it doesn't work I guess I will just put a curtain up.

Enclosure is in the background of second photo.
