As some of you may or may not know we have a 2000 16' Casita SD. Well we as I believe many of you do not use the rear bed as a table area at all and keep it as a bed full time.

I just ordered a foam mattress to make it a bit more comfortable, but let me tell you what else I did...

At the end of the bed where Julie sleeps sags a lot because where it has the "V" angle cuts there is no bed support where the bed cusions overlap. So I cut out a 4X4 piece of birch plywood that will fill the gap in this section. Now we have a full bed where there was no support before. Trust me it makes a huge difference for us because now Julie can actually stay on her side of the bed and not smother me... at least not all the time.

It does not seem like much but Julie (sleeping towards the bath side) has that little be extra where gravity does not pull on the cusions as it did before.

Steven - that is exactly what we did. In fact, we doubled the front so that when anyone sits on the edge there is zero give. You are correct. It makes a tremendous difference.

There are different types of foam.High density should be the type that you got in your cushions.Some of this foam is deceving.It looks good but a year down the road its sagging and will not spring back to normal shape.I just put in my Boler today two peices of high density foam for our beds.I still got job to complete.

These are bunk beds.75x36 inches.Works for us.:wave

I love Michael but another baby at this time is not in the plans. Our little family of 3 works perfect for our Casita I don't know what would happen if we had another little one. I think we want to keep things as they are for now... however the act in producing another baby is not toally out of the question!:wave

I am very interested in how you are doing the bunk beds. Personally, I would rather have the bunk beds in the rear of the trailer. I would then turn the front into a mini dinette. We spend more time outside camping that in. Any info or additional pictures would be great!

What exactly is melamine?

You know that cheap/inexpensive (usually white) stuff on bathroom and kitchen cupboards which coats particle board? That is melamine.

It's basically a wood finish replacement.

No, I think it is. He paid someone for a large piece. What he paid for was someone to apply the laminate on all sides (or at least the top and sides), I'll bet.

I had a brain-fart and forgot the troubles I have been through, doing just that - laminating. In my misspent youth, I laminated, what seems like, miles of countertops. I completely forgot the term melamine, somehow I thought (from the image perhaps) it was a sheet of white plastic. Doh!

The legs are just 2x4s routered on edges.The legs on the ones closest to you are lagged bolted into counter top and also back wall.The legs on back end are angle brackets on bottom with the big cross brace you see.:wave

Is the bottom bunk on the floor or is it raised up a bit? I am going to have to explore the possibilities in The Love Bug this weekend. ;)

The bottom bunk is 1 ft from the floor.We bought 2 blue plastic containers and slide under for extra storage.Got at Wallmart.
