Belly band inserts..surfside..where to buy??
Pretty sure this topic has been covered but can't seem to find it.
78 surfside belly band insert size is not available anywhere I look. Ie eBay, Amazon, any RV shop.
The size would be approx 1 1/4 ".
Anyone use anything else that worked well if this size vinyl insert isn't made anymore?
Thanks you!

We bought the belly ban insert for our trillium from an automotive store here in Victoria. Sorry, do not know what it was called.

im going to remove my belly band, fiberglass it smooth and use 3m body moulding to cover the strip, ive found with the hard to find parts it is better to just upgrade to new so far and perhaps cheaper? (i could be wrong on that lol)

I wish I would have done that originally...but I did the body and paint work last summer so I'm stuck with finding some kind of insert to make this work. Grrrrrrr

I have a piece of automotive style, self adhering vinyl trim for belly bands.
2" Wide x 33'+ Long. Don't know if it fits your needs.
PM me if interested.
Let's make a deal!

I am pretty sure I saw just the thing you are looking for at a place called Metro Trailer on Nairn Avenue here in Winnipeg. I only took note of it because the belly band on our surfside is in terrible shape, all painted over and missing in spots. We aren't planning exterior until later but I have been scoping out places to buy parts, fiberglass mat, resin and gel coat. Been fairly lucky. Will be getting hinges, brake parts, lights etc. from them as they seem to have a little of everything that I never see at the RV places. The insert they had was black and looked to be the right size. Maybe they'd ship to you.

I've tried 1" and it won't fit..too small. It floats in there but would stay if I used some adhesive.
BUT, I may have found an alternative. I had a RV shop in town here come up with an idea and they have custom cut 'indigo blue' strips at 1 1/8" out of thin aluminum. The test cuts they gave me for sizing work perfectly. I will have 8' strips tonight ready and will put them in. I'll let you all know how it goes but I think it's going to look awesome.
Best thing about it... 26 bucks.
Pics up by tomorrow with the result, other wise I'm going to give the 'Winnipeg' or "princess auto' options a try.
Thanks for all the advice.

Thanks for this info... Sounds like they have lots of Surfside options. I wish I would have known about these guys a ways back before I started my full resto. Might need brake stuff from them so I'll look them up.
Thanks again!

Of course, one of the other members showed some pics about a month or so ago of how he had modified his belly band with LED lights all the way around. That was very cool as well. Really like the chrome touches on yours. We used chromed wheel trim on the cabinets of ours just to jazz it up a bit. We are really only limited by our imaginations with these little trailers.

Truly agree with you there. These are a great platform to express some creativity and uniqueness in the camping world.
....regarding LED's, I couldn't resist...
...all on remote as well. Should get a few laughs!

Hey.. I wondering if you had any pics of your interior on here? Would love to see the Chrome touches that you're talking about as I was possibly thinking of doing the same. Thanks!

Hi James, Your bellyband looks similar to the one on my Bigfoot TT - would you mind posting the part information for the moulding that you used, if you have it? I am in Arizona, so won't be able to stop by your local supplier, but would like to see if I can find it online. Your renovation looks amazing! What kind of paint did you use on the bottom? Did you paint it yourself? It looks lovely!

Hey thanks very much for the kind words!
...The belly band insert was cut from large sheets of thin aluminum from a company here in Airdrie, Alberta, usually used for rv siding. They were kind enough to cut it down to 1" 1/8 eight foot strips that fit snuggly into place. Lone Pine RV were the guys that helped me out. They had a huge color pallet to choose from so I'm assuming you could find something like that in the US.
I used the 'system 3' gel coat on the Surfside and painted it myself last summer. I used to paint a few cars when I was younger and still had an old spray gun which thankfully still worked.
Thanks again!

Will bookmark this and tick that off my list of sourcing parts for the Surfside.
