I replaced the original outdoor speakers on our 2007
Bigfoot 25RQ. While recaulking I noticed that the center cone came unglued on both speakers and was just sitting there at the bottom of the speaker, trapped between the speaker cone and the grill, rattling and vibrating. I cut away the grill so that you can see the center cone that came loose. Some reviews of this speaker on Amazon mentioned having this same problem. Also, you can see that the adhesive between the cone and surround has failed. The speaker was no longer waterproof. The original speakers are Magnadyne, which are still
sold new, but they look pretty inexpensive. Instead, I replaced them with Pyle brand marine speakers that only cost a bit more. You don’t have many options because the maximum depth is only 1 5/8 inches and the cutout diameter is just 1/16th shy of 5 inches. There was a Jenson speaker that would have worked and it matched the hole pattern, but it looked cheap. The hole pattern on the Pyle didn’t match so I had to drill three new holes. I also added some of the aluminum/bubble wrap insulation behind the new speakers.
Anyhow, these speakers were rarely used and failed due to age. My main concern was that they were no longer waterproof. If your trailer is a bit older you might want to take a close look at your speakers.
