Cabinets in my Trail Mite

The cabinets in my 1972 Trail Mite (similar to a Boler or Scamp) are, what I'm gonna call, raw fiberglass with some remnants of old foam padding (I'm assuming insulation). Obviously they are ultra tiny and have the concave back. I'm just curious what everyone does with their tiny cabinets. I'm a little afraid to use them because I don't know if it'll rub fiberglass shards into bedding or clothes. And I can't seem to get them clean enough. So do people line them (and with what) or leave them as is? I'm thinking contact paper won't stick. Paint? Cloth? Anyone have pictures of what they did?
