Cant Find Scamp SN/VIN

I know this has been covered a million times, but I still cant find my SN

I bought a 16 trailer (guessing 90's) with bill of sale. The Bill of Sale only mentioned a military SN that was painted on the back of the trailer. They bought it from auction so it has never been registered in any state.'

I found a place on the tongue under the hitch (see photo) where it looks like a SN plate used to be.

Question, did scamp stamp an ID number on as well as put the plate, or once the plate is gone so is the SN?

Our Scamp VIN is stamped on the top of the frame rail behind (on the right hand side) the tongue jack.

Can not speak to older units but no VIN plates here for newer models.

Mine is in the same location as the one linked above and mentioned by Jeff T.
The stamping on that top rail (passenger side) was very faint and was hard to decipher at the DMV.

Odd there wasn't any military title with the original SN. I've purchased a bunch of these at military bases and they all came with one. Most had the statement of origin too.

I did not buy this myself from auction… I bought it from someone who bought it years ago and stripped it down to restore it… Then gave up

He seems pretty disorganized and I'm not holding my breath that he'll find the paperwork

I found the reminant of the decal which had no identifiable information on it. My plan is to stamp the VIN on the title on the same location in case it is ever needed. I plan to own my Scamp until I die...so...
