ceiling-hung curtains

Awhile back someone wrote about hanging curtains from ceiling tracks. (I don't know that I have my terminology right here.) I can't find the thread; I wonder if anybody knows about these, and where is a good place to buy them and what to look for? We live in a rural area, so I'm guessing I'll be buying by internet. Thanks for your help!

I hung some curtains in the house last week, HDP (Honey-do-project).
Ikea sells Kvartal cieling mount curtain tracks and hardware. Comes in single and triple tracks with single and panel cars. The tracks come in 55" lengths and can be joined together. If you use the triple tracks buy the mitre saw. Hope this helps.

I have hung lightweight curtains from a rod that spans the dinette/bed area in my 13' Scamp. I hung the curtain from a length of an old tent pole. I put a locking (suction-cup) plastic hook on each side wall (closet and kitchen cabinet) and hung the pole from it. This works nicely as a "privacy curtain". You can also span the space with a long curtain tension bar. When you use this method you don't need to drill any holes.

Basically, the use of your curtain and its location dictates the way you hang them.

Thanks for your help--I will follow up on the Ikea idea, as I would really like to hang the curtains from the overhead cabinets/shelves.

Levolor ceiling mounts

Hi Cheri,
I just mounted I-beam tracks under our cupboards using the Levolor ceiling mounts. They are very simple and you can get them in places like Home Depot.

Do you have interior pictures of your curtains?

I read somewhere that there is an individual at the Quartsite, AZ, gathering in January that sells some kind of hanging curtain that goes outside. It blocks the sun and gives privacy. They had pictures of it and it looked pretty neat. Added another outside room to the egg. Can't recall the price but it was reasonable--$20 something.

We hung curtains by using cheap cafe rods that we fastened to eye-bolts. My wife made button-holes in the curtains and we simply slid them on the cafe rods. We fastened the rods to the eye-bolts by drilling a small hole in the rods and inserting a small zip tie through it. You do have to drill small holes for the eye-bolts to pass through; and use short eye-bolts so not much sticks up into the cabinet above. All-in-all, a very easy and cheap solution that works very well.
