Compact II, Compact Jr., bumper, roof ??

Looking for solutions for adding rear stabilizer levelers to the bumper. I have seen others using tongue jack cranks on each side, and would like a KISS solution. I tried a few searches, and hoping someone has a few direct links to photos as notes as suggestions.

Also looking for the pop top mechanism alternatives (for lack of better descriptions). I have the original slide/lift mounts, and seems a bit dangerous to me. I always have the feeling it may come crashing down on my head. Has anyone re-engineered a lift system for the roof top?

I put Atwood stabilizers at each end of the bumper. Mine were welded on but they can also be bolted on (I think you'd have to drill holes in the bumper but I really didn't pay attention to that.)

Poptop- the Campster has a different system and parts may be available for it from VW camper places, but I think it lifts a lower weight. It isn't cranked up- it is a system of springs and slides and is either up or down. But when I had a broken spring I would place a wood support to keep it up when up. You could easily do that and feel more secure.

There should be 4 pins that dangle from chains at each upright. These go through matching holes in the rail and upright to lock the top in the up position.if these are missing, I'm sure that nails or bolts will work. I use salvage yard scissor jacks from small import cars at each corner as stabilizers.

Thanks for the posts about the pins, and yes, I have the same tracks/pins as the original lifts. My intended inquiry is to find alternative, redesigned, creative ideas that others may have actually built. In other words reinventing a better lifting system.

Perhaps the original design works as intended, and was fishing just in case someone built a better mouse trap.

I am at the stage of having the top pop up skirt made. Hopefully, I can find a local vendor at a reasonable price to sew it.
