cupboard wall repair

Hi all! I'm new to this forum and am looking for the product of choice for repairing the few screw holes left in the side of my original cabinet walls by a previous owner. It's the pressed wood/cardboard like material, will wood filler work best? Bondo? or what?

Thanks, Rick

I would try to find a wood filler of the right color. You may be able to find a wood grain tape that closely matches the color and grain to cover the area.

Painting over the "plastic" surface can be problematic. Be sure it's very clean and you may have to send a bit.

Others that have done it may have other hints.

As long as you're going to paint, I'd use any sandable wood filler and a good primer. Surface prep for paint is the key and the original surface needs to be scuffed up to remove the top gloss finish and contaminates.
