Made a dinette from mid-grade plywood. Getting in and out was a pain for us so I wanted something shorter like some I've seen here, but we have four years old twins so we can't live with the small table. So, as you can see, I put it on a hinge it can be big when all of us are eating (or for the bed) and quickly fold down to get in and out. The leg had to be closer in so I couldn't use the original folding table leg so for now I've built a pocket and use a PVC pipe. Is stronger than I was expecting but I'm not sure it's the final solution. Also I've tried a couple of things to hold the leaf out for eating and have no hit upon a long term solution there either. Tough to make something strong enough for kids leaning on it and also have room for the leaf to fold up underneath neatly.
