I was searching the Net for Boler stuff when I came across this boler that was for sale way back in 2002.

He had made a pretty neat canopy for his boler that not only provides shade out front, but covers the entire roof as well.

It looks like it would be easy to make and only take seconds to set up.

Has anyone seen this before or done it themselves? Looks great!

I love looking at stuff like this, folks creativity always amazes me. The only downside, is I think it would definitely be a two-person setup. Gotta "walk" the tarp over the top of the trailer and one person would have a tough time NOT getting it hung up on vents, etc. Cool never-the-less

Jayson,

On the Yahoo Scampers Group, Faith Rice and her husband have been refurbishing a 1977 13' Scamp. For their awning they used a Columbia Condor II with one of the wings spread up and over the top. You can view it through the Yahoo Scampers Group Photos file titled "77S13 Faith Rice". You will have to become a Yahoo Scampers Group member to view the pictures.

Good luck on your project.

Sorry for the delay. Just saw this after a broken arm in May, am trying to catch up.

It is a Columbia Condor II. We had to add extention straps to the side that goes on top, so that they stretch over. We are now considering adding short extensions to one of the bowed sides, because it has a very small clearance for opening the door. But it does work without.

I've seen those Boler pics before and admired the concept. A couple of brackets U-bolted or welded to the frame, some aluminium or PVC poles and a tarp with your choice of colors and sizes!

From rigging canopies over my Scamp, I can tell you that the interior temps of the egg will be quite nice, even in direct sun, and the rig won't retain a lot of heat, so the night-time sleeping will be good! Also, the roof vents can be opened without the sun coming in!

I think this is a real nice set up in Ideal condition but in a rain storm I can see puddles of rain water all over the thing and as mentiond it will be a great sail on a windy day.
