Electric Awnings

Has anyone put an electric awning on a Scamp 16? We think we would use it more if the awning opened with the push of a button. We currently have a Catalina 2500 awning.

i dunno, i've seen plenty of stickies in campgrounds having problems with their electric awnings. I'm quite happy with the Carefree on my Escape that uses a pull ribbon, it takes me 30 seconds to fully deploy. the Fiamma on my Casita was more work and also more fragile.

Escape had so many unhappy people with their electric Dometic awning that they dropped it as a standard item and went back to manual Carefree for the 2019 year. The electric Dometic is now a $700 optional upgrade over the Carefree.

I have had 2 different RVs with electric awnings. I found them easy to deploy and store but they did not provide as good shade coverage as the old manual awnings. We had a Pleasureway B van that had a FIAMA awning and I am not a fan of that awning. I am glad that my Bigfoot has the manual style A&E 8500 awning. Just my $.02.

Cool Casita

Our Casita 17' has the manual Fiamma awning..we rarely use it bks we use a Gazelle "pop-up" screen house most of the time. It has a total of 10 tie-down points and has withstood some strong winds already.
The awning is usually only partially deployed for a bit o' shade for the frig on hot days.
FWIW the factory warned us to NOT leave the Fiamma out on windy rainy days.
