FG and Mylar

use mylar as a backing when doing FG repairs. glass/resin does not stick and it makes it easier. tape mylar on to area, screw or tape hard material over it, glass initial "set" from inside, remove outside material including mylar and finish up inside, ouside use bondo sand and paint

Wax paper also works and it's a lot cheaper and easier to find.

Mylar can be found everywhere from potato chip bags to candy bar wrappers.

Polyester resin doesn't stick to plastic grocery bags.

I just put a sheet of paneling over the outside of my Casita to glass in the original refrigerator vent holes. I am planning to add the glass against the wood panel from the inside. With the combined upper and lower holes at roughly 26" X 26" it is too large to use a potato chip bag so I am using wax paper.

Scratch that. I tried to install my prebuilt panel to the outside of my Casata this morning with the wax paper stapled around the edges. I couldn't lay the wax paper down flat enough to my satisfaction. It had wrinkles. The wax paper wasn't strong enough to hold the staples when I tried to pull it taught. I think the area was too large and the fact that it had to lay against a concave panel. Will try Saran Wrap next. If not that, I will get some paneling with a slicker faced and apply Turtle Wax as a release agent top that.
