Foam strips vs caulking?

Hi all! This is my first post, though I have enjoyed reading and we've already used lots of tips from here for our fixer-upper Boler over the past 2 years.

The white foam strips have peeled off most of the cracks in between the ensolite panels on the interior. I was thinking of just caulking them and then painting (will study all the great tips on THAT step when the time comes!). Is caulking recommended or is there some reason those strips are used? I just think they look cheap and temporary...

Welcome to the FGRV forum family. I never had to replace or fill in the seams on our 1st 13' Scamp, but have read posts that you just fill the cracks with the caulking, and then use a damp wadded up paper towel to blot a texture that matches the wall, and after it all dries, paint the walls & seams with latex paint (be sure your walls are very clean for the paint prep first).
