After beating up the front of my Boler
last year on some rock roads, I've been searching for options that would allow the front to be more protected, but also that could keep it looking vintage'ish. I didn't really want it to be obvious it had a rock guard / chip guard, etc!
I found Al's Liner, a bedliner that is more rubbery (not as rough as Line-X), that can be used as a chipguard. About Al's Liner DIY Truck Bed Liner Kits
When I repainted the Boler
last month, I tinted this liner product with the color I was going to use on the rest of the Boler
shop mixed a small amount of pigment only w/o additives as the liner had them already in it) and then I sprayed the front. It comes as a gloss finish, so matches a base/clear coat method better than the matte finish from a single stage paint
Here's a pic of the Boler on the vacation we just returned from - you can barely make out the line where the guard stops. So far so good, keeps the camper looking more 'period' and hopefully will keep the rock chips at bay!
