Fridge

Has anyone replaced the fridge in their egg? I’m reading on rv forums that you can put in a bar fridge.

I also have a propane cooktop that I’d like to replace - any ideas?

And …what is the trim called around the cupboards - the flexible trim. Has anyone replaced theirs?

Yes. I have fallen into the rabbit hole.

Thanks for your help.

This is how it starts.

We went with an induction stove and love it.

A bar fridge only works when you have a shore power hook-up. It won’t work when you’re towing, and it won’t work if you’re camping without hookups.

Same with induction cooking.

For most people that’s pretty limiting.

Unless you have an inverter and enough battery/solar to power it. Which is pretty doable, but definitely getting more involved. I'd probably suggest assuming 100Ah of battery and 100W of solar specifically for the fridge in addition to any other power needs, and that might even be a bit low if you're planning on boondocking.

Seems like it would be more efficient to install a 12V compressor fridge and bypass the inverter and associated power losses. But I guess if it’s only an occasional thing and you have hookups most of the time…

Fridge

We have the original 3 way fridge our trailer came with.

Propane gets it cold fastest and tanks last a long time. We get it cold and switch to 100v when shore power is available. When cold switching works well. The 12v really drains the battery fast; so we would only use it during travel between sites and pre cool it with propane.

Propane will blow out on the road and the manual says to switch to 12v.

"Newer units are likely more efficient than our 1978 fridge"

P.S. After 3 years of looking found a stove replacement. Drove 8 hours south to get the replacement 4 burner magic chef oven, Slid right in, matched our original 22" unit perfectly. The 1977 stove unit came out of a boler 1700 and we had it serviced by a local gas pro. The stove top is 20" deep x 22" wide at top and only 16" high and a modern units seem to all be 19" high, they would not fit or not have the look wanted.

"Some times though, functionality is more important than looks"

Hope this is of helps
