Lightbulb Holding open the upper doors

After using my new-to-me Parkliner trailer for it's first long weekend trip, my wife and I realized one of the improvements that we needed to make; holding open the upper storage doors. Was a bit of a pain to keep having the doors flop down when loading things in or for getting out stuff.

I searched on the forum and found a good post about someone adding in long springs to keep the doors open (how it's done on boats), but i decided to install some small 8" gas struts. To mount them I bought some angled ball stud brackets to attach to the lip around the opening.

Works great.

I only have one "upward" opening cabinet in my Casita, but I installed a marine hatch spring after my gas strut hatch holder lost its ability to hold the door up. My spring has never failed me. Just sayin'.

I used 1/2 inch CPVC water pipe cut long enough to go from the latch to the lower lip of my upper cabinet with a little slit in the pipe to sit onto the lip.

Got them on Amazon
6 Pcs 100N/22.5lb Gas Strut
10MM Gas Strut Mounting Bracket

I bought shorter wood screws for mounting to the doors and 1/2" long #8 screws with nylon lock nuts for mounting to the fiberglass lip at my local hardware store
