Is weldwood contact adhesive strong enough to permanently attach wood furring to int

Question for those more experienced with Weldwood contact adhesive.

I'm in the process of redoing the interior of the one piece fiberglass shell that makes up the snap-n-nap on my amerigo tc-11 and need to install some wood to the interior edges so that I can anchor the RV wall board over the nnew insulation.

Normally I would just apply 3m 5200 and screw it in place, but because there's no frame, and the angle at which its going in, this isn't practical.

My thoughts instead were to apply weldwood contact adhesive to the fiberglass and wood so I can just press the piece in place, but I am wondering if this will be strong enough or will the contact adhesive lose the battle with gravity over time?

Not familiar but have you investigated some of the boat building adhesive. They sell plenty of epoxy type building adhesives so only short clamp pressure is required. I think depending on location if no clamp ability you will want to rig up some lumber or possibly adjustable shower curtains so you can leverage in place. I have seen countertop builder use a combination of hot glue and epoxy so they had quick stick while epoxy dried and gave the strength holding power.

Contact cement generally requires the parts to fit perfectly together.
You may be able to use a construction adhesive, like Liquid Nails.

I'm not exactly sure of your application but I believe the Weldwood would work. Two coats on each surface, leaving enough time to dry between coats and after final coat. Make sure you use the original Weldwood and not the water-based solution, it has never worked for me. Good luck with your project.

Contact cement can give way under heat. It's how I remove items attached with it. If you camp in desert areas or live here in California's Central Valley the sun on the shell may develop a higher temperature than expect. I'm not saying don't use it. Verify it's heat range.

The contact adhesive probably won't support weight over time. I used Loctite Power grab to put in a wood halo that I will attach cabinets to and it will hold at least 250 lbs
