LED light bulbs???
I have decided to change my interior light bulbs over to LED.
Went to local RV dealership and purchase one LED to test light quality.
Cost for one bulb...$10.99....OUCH!!!!
The light quality was great but the change over would be way north of $130 @ $10.99 per bulb.....there has got to be a source that would save me some cash.
Anybody out there who has found a low cost source for LED Bulbs.
I'll need a dozen or more to convert every fixture.
Thanks for any help.

I don't remember where I got mine Patrick (I'm at work), but it seems to me I paid about that much for 5. I got 5 warm and 5 cold for the interior of our egg. Maybe Amazon? I know you can find them much less expensive on-line.
Good luck.

Search this forum. I found inexpensive LEDs on ebay that have done very nicely for a 1/4 of the price of that as I recall.

Enter "tmart" in your search engine. If your bulbs are #1156 enter that into Tmart's search. If you have a different bulb number enter that. I think you will be pleasantly surprised at their prices. Plus, they do free shipping.

LED Lights are they worth it/
As with many things it depends. If you're going to traveling and camping for long periods of time off the grid with no hookups then they're probably worth the cost. If you're mostly week-end camping or almost always have electricity hookups then they they're probably not worth the expense.
I've touted and use LED lights because I'm never connected to shore power and camp up 30 days in one place. The concern is battery drainage.

I've used several types of LEDs over the past 6 years and the prices have really come down while the light intensity went up.
The set I bought this Spring were from ebay, with search string 68 SME LED
They are the cylindrical type with 68 LED elements and come in wedge or bayonet mount, warm white or cool white. Very bright.

I like the fact they don't give off the heat regular bulbs do.

I like the white light they provide for reading. I like not having to replace incandescent bulbs, that they stay bright over a larger range of voltage, they drawer a lot less power, they don't heat damage the plastic lenses, ...
We have them in our Florida home, replacing most of the 110 incandescent bulbs. They pay for themselves in short order.

There are any number of sources much cheaper.. but the thing to watch out for is the color temperature. The eariler ones, and still some of the cheaper ones, are sometimes very bluish and can be hard on the eyes.
To quote from CNET:
If you want to get technical, light color (color temperature) is measured in kelvins. The lower the number, the warmer (yellower) the light. So, your typical incandescent is somewhere between 2,700 and 3,500K. If that's the color you're going for, look for this range while shopping for LED bulbs.

Watch out when buying them from ebay or amazon.
I ordered some, the pad type with adaptor, and they were 10 for around $30.00.
Catch is , they ship from China and take about 6 weeks to arrive.
On the good side, they work fantastic !! used one on my outside door light and it lights up the whole area!!

I bought 12 1156 led bulbs for $30.00 from Amazon. They are a cool white as compared to a warm white for the incandecents but for about $2.50 a bulb I'm not complaining.

I bought mine on amazon with free shipping. Got a pack of ten in with a nice warm white light to them that I like very much. The ones I bought are GRV Ba15's 1156 1141. I got 10 for $55.80.

Last year I bought the long strips of LED's and connected them to the existing fixtures: http://www.fiberglassrv.com/forums/f...tml#post442961
It has been working out quite well.

My next question is how the actual light is identified in LED language.....
The one test bulb I did buy was perfect and was identified as "Narural White".
It gave off what I'd call a perfect white light.....are all bulbs listed that way?
I guess I just want to do this once.
We do mostly state park type camping with no hook-ups and standard light bulbs draw down the battery way too fast.
