Lighted switches

My dear husband just did two updates for my 2001 LD that I must share. I have no idea if newer casitas have them already, but my older one did not.
He replaced the water pump switch with one that glows red if the switch in on, no more forgetting too turn it off when not in use!
He also made an interior switch for my porch light. Also a lighted switch. Now I can flip the switch on to check to see who is outside my door without opening the door....my new clear door glass with the sliding shade also makes outdoor viewing much better.... before I had no way to turn the porch light on without opening the door, how dumb was that?
Just had to comment on my new safety mods!

Wow he is such a keeper!

Lighted switches are a nice upgrade. Assuming they are switches for the positive (hot) side of the circuit (which is almost always the case), then they require an additional wire to the negative (ground) side to provide a current path for the light.

I also added a switch with a LED light for my water pump so I can always see if it is on or not. I also relocated the switch to the sink area.

But I did not buy a lighted switch. I used the original switch, drilled a hole in it for the LED light, and used a LED and resister which I had on hand. Put the LED into the hole so it shows from the front, added a little hot melt glue to keep it in place, added resister and run the ground (negative) wire to the nearest ground (negative). Current draw with a small LED is so trivial that thin wire and no added fusing is fine.

It was more work than buying an off the self lighted switch, and I suspect it makes me no more of a keeper.
