Today I added some rough-surface tape to my Hauley's bumper. The bumper makes a nice step, but I am concerned that its narrow surface may be slippery in wet or icy weather. The tape should keep my footing secure.
You can also see in the photo that I have added a false floor. It seemed really awkward to me, having to step up over the raised door threshold, then try to find the bumper with my foot. So I screwed some 3/8" plywood (wish I had used 1/2" though) onto some 2"x3" supports underneath. It is almost level with the doorway, but it does stick up just a little bit higher. I left an area on the right as-is (just the original floor) for my wire display racks, because the 3" lip actually help keep the feet of the racks from dancing out of place.
I also added a door bump stop (adhesive backed) onto the outside of the door, so it would not dent against the trailer when the wind catches it.
Here is a photo showing my cargo for Tuesday's deliveries. It will be a
light day. Most days, the Lil Hauley is completely filled with those bins along with some wire racks.
Have any of you other Snoozy owners felt bothered by the raised doorway? I was afraid I'd trip and
fall on my face one day.
