Hi all,

Been learning about these unique rigs and viewing everyone's impressive eggs here for a while and wanted your input on what we have found.

We had been thinking for our 1st camper about a little pop up, but found this with a for sale sign in a driveway last last fall (2005). The owner hadn't used it for camping, but rather was hauling and storing straw in it! Neglected and sitting for a while, it finally was of no use for him anymore. Needless to say is was a horrid moldy, dirty mess. We finally negotiated a price of $375.00 US. We went home, got our hitch and after some quick wiring, brought it to it's new home about 25 miles.

After lurking here for months we have come to the conclusion that this little 13 footer is a Boler clone especially since the model is a 1300. But the name of the manufacturer is Trek, Inc. This is what is left of the VIN label:

Anyone ever heard of that one? Where it was made? The word "Trek" on the pinstriping also has a star in the middle of the "R", as in StarTrek.

We had to dispose of the old cushions due to deterioration with rot and mold. My wife can sew and made new ones. We bleached and "Kilzed" the ensolite and painted several coats of latex paint. Most of the seams were replaced since they were peeling off. The table had to be recut since the one that was supplied was poorly sized. New custains were made. Most of the interior is complete and now the exterior is about to be tackled. New wiring, propane tank, and tires. Frame is rusty but solid. It will probably be fall until we are ready to roll.

Really enjoy this site and the pics of all the FGRVs.

How did the PT Cruiser work out as a tow vehicle?

I think that you paid way to much for this trailer. Let me know when I can come down and pick it up so you can get your money back.

Actually, it looks like you got one heck of a deal. I hope that you enjoy using it when you get it on the road.

Hi Loren,
We have been using the PT Cruiser dozens of times towing a utility trailer (although only once did we estimate around 1200lbs) and it did fine here. When we towed the camper home, we took the back roads (no interstates) and went no more than 55mph. I had no problems at all even on the few small hills that we had to climb. Of course, it wasn't raining, wasn't windy, no truck traffic passing, no hard braking. These are conditions to be tested later.

We live where there are few major hills although closer to the river there are some more substantial inclines. We will be testing the Trek early this fall on these hills with the PT Cruiser before taking it any farther from home.

We will be camping close to home (within 100 miles or so) initially to check it out.

Thanks Terry.

I agree, you did well with the purchase and the upgrades.

The sheves above the windows in the before pictures, were they stock or someone elses mod? What were they made of? If stock, do you still have them?
