old post on scamp bed

I have been looking high and low for a thread I saw a long time ago. someone did a 5th wheel scamp bed conversion to make it a Queen bed. and sleep with your head at the front of the trailer. if anyone can point me in the right direction I would be forever in debt to you. tried the search and found nothing. thanks for the help

Turning bed

Heath
Peterh did the queen turn around but he changed the side support structure. I turned my bed last winter with a full mattress and added steps for about $150 with no structure changes. I will try to find the link to my mod.

Thanks Eddie, we just got the 5er this spring and love it. but as I am 6 foot the sideways sleeping position gets a little cramped. And we no longer have a lot of people going so I don't need the couch and it is a large step to get in to the bed. just wanted to see how others do it. I figured I would lengthen it and add steps in the middle so the sides are open to make more storage room.

thank you for adding the link. that is the kind of info I needed. looks really nice. I may have to swipe your design. looks to be much easier than my idea was.

Bunk Mod

I wanted to keep a seat by the door for changing shoes and dressing in the morning. I also modded the TV mount so it could viewed from the front or the back of the trailer. I got my mattress from Ikea for about $100., it is a full size mattress. You end up with about 8" of decking floor on each side of the mattres. I added small cabinets to mount Ikea lights on each side of the bed and we use cloth storage boxes to store clothes on each side of the bed. The steps and extension came from one sheet of plywood and I also used a short piece of oak for the steps.
