Plexiglass for A/C

Hello! I'm thinking installing an A/C in the window using plexiglass around the unit. How do you cut plexiglass? Is there some place I could take it along with a cardboard template? I'd feel much better if I could get somebody else to cut it. Would 1/4 inch be a good size?

Thanks!

I have seen several T@b's with custom installs, did you check their forum?
Those Dometic Windows are very expensive to replace so some have installed the a/c in the sidewall.

Ya, the T@b forum is where I saw the window A/C mod. I havent decided if I want to cut a hole in my trailer yet and where the best place is to do that. Opinions vary as the best way to go so I'm thinking of the window mod till I decide if I want to do something permanent which involves cutting. I've found out that unlike fiberglass patching an aluminum skinned shell is not really feasible.

Ok, I found 2 local glass companies who will make the plexiglass window with the A/C cut out so now I just need to know what most of you have set the unit on. Like what kind of base? Wooden, plastic, metal shelf, etc.

Here is a link to how I did my window AC install. I used a small window sill mount for the base to sit on, they are about $30 at Home Depot.
