PVC shelving for '79 Boler Closet

In a process 2 years in the making, I finally got to making a shelving system for the Boler.

I'm doing my best to avoid riveting any new holes, so PVC seemed the best option (plus, cheap, plus adjustable depending on use).

The measurements were, per usual, the worst (square thing in a round egg). I used 1" PVC, then 1/4" MDF for the shelves. The shelves themselves are 19" across and at least 14" deep. I added depth for the lower shelves so we don't lose things off the back end.

Pretty excited to get it in action! We have a short weekend planned over Labor Day (only time out this year ).

Nice job. Shelves work better for me, too.

That looks like a great idea. Lightweight and the key seems to be that the walls handle the job of preventing any lateral sway, so the PVC can just focus on resisting gravity. Clever. Enjoy your trip with all that extra shelf space! 🙂

I was looking for some PVC plumbing fittings recently on the Home Depot web site and saw that they sell PVC fittings for making furniture and things like that and they have them in different colors. The Home Depot

I love this idea. We also don't like using rivets. Just a thought mdf may warp over time, might be better to use a cheap grade of plywood..
