Replacing Bargman L-400 with Trimark

I replaced the Bargman L-400 . I tried getting parts for the L-400 but found out it was beyond repair from 2 different lock smiths especially the housing hole that holds the key cylinder . They are hard to get and expensive if found .I am keeping the original door handle incase I can restore it later and reinstall a little fibreglass repair and paint job.I am planning to restore and repaint trailer original colour next year or year after.

Being that I am on a budget. I fitted a Trimark Black number 46212 door handle -- cost $53.95 before tax Cnd . I made sure the bolt lock was in line with existing plate on the trailer before marking and cutting out hole with jig saw to fit . I used an aluminum door handle kick plate $10.00 from a lock smith . I cut the plate to fit with mitre saw to cover existing hole . I glued it underneath to seal it .Works excellent when finished .

Looking forward to the next egg fest in 2 weeks

Hi Dave,

would you be willing to sell the broken lock of yours? mine has a big crack in the outside half of the door lock.

I sent you a PM, appreciate your time,

Joel

its really a shame there is no company out there that makes a L-400 replacement. that lock was/is so popular.

I see lots of trailers with a pad lock hasp because they can't find a replacement L-400, or L-500.

Looks great! Really like the added strike plate on the door side.
Thanks for posting, I will definitely consider using a trimark latch.
